Hello, I was in search of a old 1929 American LaFrance fire engine, name "Maggie". There is a picture in your web site with Pine Level lettering on it. We together share the apparatus for that around 1953 it was used here in Pine Level. The history has it going back to your department. My dad was Chief of SSVFD somewhere around the 1950's. I would like to have the dates he was Fire Chief if available. I was also a member of SSVFD from around 1959-1962. I was on your WEB site (7/04/2011) and saw a picture (History of SSVFD) on page two of the Wayne Powell collection, photo 10 of 20 and I believe the person in the white turnout coat is my dad – George Tavenner, Sr.(Fire Chief). Do you know what year the photo was taken? If it is possible I would like to have a copy of that photo and I would be willing to cover the cost of re-printing. Thanks for responding in advance.

Hello Everyone.
Its a pleasure to see this great web site and to see SSVFD continue its great tradition. I was the first county cadet to work within the Silver Spring Fire Department back in 1982. Its good to look at the historical photos which i recognizied Fire Fighter Torre who worked out of Station Company 1, and to see Barry and Mr. Brenner still giving great service to the community of Silver Spring Maryland.
Great site guys. Just stopping by to say hi! I am a firefighter myself for 16 yrs. I also own a graphics business. I do vinyl decals, can koozies, etc. I have tons of firefighter graphics that i ship all over the country.

As a Dangerous Goods Officer for the fire dept. I have specialised in the dangers of H2S. I search for incident reports on H2S on a nearly daily basis. This morning I found your website. Untill now this is the most extensive report on current H2S suicides I have seen. Thanks for listing all the current suicides: I keep a register of H2S suicides in Western countries, and your website showed me I had missed several cases. Much appreciated.
