Few mounds of snow are left following record setting storms in the metro area this winter; spring wildflowers are showing in some places and in a few weeks this past month's weather will only be a distant memory. Before one knows it the heat and humidity of July and August will be upon us and we will be wanting cooler weather...all one needs to do is think about January and February 2010---that should create an immediate cooling of the air.
SSFD member Yacov Malen has provided several pictures of Ambulance 701 and FS1 during the height of the snow. Numerous SSFD members turned out during the three storms to staff a unit or provide upstaffing to career supported units. On several shifts ambulances were fully volunteer staffed.
According to the County Association, volunteer fire and rescue personnel across Montgomery County contributed over 14,000 hours of service to their respective communities. Congratulations to one and all.
A701 leaves FS1 in height of the last snow storm.
A Montgomery County DOT plow assisted in keeping ramps at Stations 1, 16 and 19 clear.
